PS3 to be mighty expensive - way to go Sony!
As The Inquirer.net has been reporting:
AT THIS WEEK'S Sony Computer Entertainment's PlayStation Meeting in Tokyo, company president Ken Kutaragi meandered along to continue with his solemn warnings that the PlayStation 3 will not be a cheap console, even going so far as to say that "…the PS3 can't be offered at a price that's targeted towards households."
Well okay, Sony has decided to ramp up the price of the PS3 to something even beyond the cost of normal households.... right Sony, that's pushing it a bit.
Who, in that case, do you believe will bother to purchase it? Millionaires? Billionaires? Even though the developer's PS3 kit prices will be ranging from $450-$3000 within this October, I don't think anyone will be able to afford the price of a household.
How those, as The Inquirer dubbs, "loyal" Sony fans are going to cope with leaves me clueless, with the $300 launch price tag of Microsoft's Xbox 360, and the earlier release date (presumably at the end of this year, but certain rumours indicate otherwise; that it could be delayed until early 2006 or later) err, it's really a no-brainer. Or is Sony just bluffing? As they claim the PS3 will last 10 years. Who knows for sure.
All I know is I'm not planning to get a PS3, nor was I ever planning to in the first place.

It's all hype - making people expect it to be really expensive and then release it at half the price so people think it's good "value".
