Star Wars - Episode III: Revenge of the Sith's DVD Cover Art

Link: http://www.starwars.com/episode-iii/release/video/news20050725.html

Worst. Star Wars. DVD Cover Art. Ever. For plenty of reasons, which include that error full (E.G, Anakin's missing scar, etc) photoshop mess job (looks very cut, copied, and pasted) and that silly Darth Vader mask that looks like a bad video game 3D model. And there's no chemistry between any the elements of the cover art.

Not to mention the thin roman numeral letters which should be bolded. Plus the lack of vibrant contrast to the actual specular (AKA glossey AKA shiney) STAR WARS logo on this particular cover. And this was done by LFL?

No offense, but I strongly think that the fan cover art leading up to the announcement of the DVD cover art, the specs, and the rest of the details transcends the official cover art. Anyway, moving on:

And, for that matter, compare the ROTS DVD cover art to all the other ones....

The complete Wide Screen Star Wars Saga DVD cover art collection

Right. Oh well, I suppose the horrific ROTS thearetical poster art itself foreshadowed this to come. As the TPM/AOTC thearetical poster art is much more aesthetically pleasing, and outright better. Period.

Enough said.

I always thought all of the Star Wars video covers were cheesy.

Who cares really it's just a dvd, unless it's gonna be on show for everyone to see its just gonna be placed next to some other dvd so you can just see it's spine. Some dvds look nice, some don't, you just gotta live with the way they wanna distribute it.

"I always thought all of the Star Wars video covers were cheesy."

Well that's true, they all are 6 minute cheesy Photoshop fan esque jobs, but this one in particular is a nearly a half complete joke. It's not consistent - it totally breaks the rules in terms, of, say, character placement, and who's holding the lightsaber, etc.

@ Catherine, that's true, at least it's [hopefully] not the actual DVD that they're butchering. Speaking of the DVD, I'm not to impressed with the so far revealed future set - 2 NEW featurretes?

Yeah okay, where all the other second disks of the films had 3-5. 15 web documentaries. What about the 18 HyperSpace member exclusive documentaries @ www.starwars.com ?

Hmmm.

Rules of the consistency that the other cover arts had set. Take a careful look at the comparison image I linked.

Anyone notice that no one is holding a light saber. Look at the other ones there is one character holding a lights saber but here its just a small pic of obi wan and anakin with lightsabers

Yeah and there's no lens flare on the lightsaber either, the ROTS cover breaks all the rules, lol. But I suppose that's okay given it ties the two trilogies together and unifies them as one saga.
