Not Forever Nor Last
Not Forever, Nor Last
10-11-04
The sin rises over the great horizon.
I awake and travel down my tavern stairs.
Passing many citizens and guardsmen,
My eyes settle on the sea; a pirate’s burden.
My ship is grand and my crew is leery.
My compass is cracked; hand bent to the left.
The ship is in good shape, but the side hull is droopy and dreary.
And my favorite parrot has just died.
My luck is at its lowest and fear is running wild.
We’d better keep our wits up and try not to bother.
Or else we’d end up shark food,
Or in Davy Jones’ Locker.
Night would pass, and morning would fall.
Eyes never meeting, just retreating to the floor.
The year is 1461, and the oceans are vast.
I am another pirate, not forever nor last.
