A trip to Weymouth

Ok so Monday I had a fun day in Yeovil full of Simpsons watching and toast eating, and then the other day, which was Tuesday I went to Weymouth for the day...well a few hours, as I had to get back home as I had a Dave lecture to be at early the next day.

Anywho myself and Paul had to rush for the train, as we woke up a tad late, and well I had to get my hair a little dry. So without any eating we sped off, only to get a text from Laura telling us the train was delayed half an hour...yay. So we walked the rest of the way. Then lots of waiting a packet of french fries and a train journey later we finally got to Weymouth, now I had never been so south before, but it was cool, reminded me of Southend a little.

So we made our way to the seafront and wow the sea was so pretty, plus due to the fact I live near a river and not the sea, so I’ve missed it a tad ^_^.

the beach

We then admired the sea for a little bit while we walked down the coast, myself looking for a nice shell to pop in my bag (really hard). We then stopped for a bit and took a few pictures.

fun times

We then carried on back down, hoping to find the sea life center, which in the end we did, we got there in reasonably good time and bought our tickets, which I must say I felt were rather pricey at around £12 for an adult and around £11 for myself as I am a student (all that money I spend on uni and I get to save a whole pound). Paul nicely paid for me, but he had agreed to before hand, which was nice of him.

Now the place wasn’t huge but there was a fair amount to look at, we decided to first go have a look at the seahorses, which were insanely cute.

I will apologise now for my crap pictures, but all the places were so dark, so it’s not my fault nothing turned out that good.

cutie

There were tons and tons of seahorses and that little guy was my best picture, I must say I honestly didn’t know there were so many different seahorses...but then again I’d never really given it much thought before.

It was then a trip to the ray pool or whatever it should be called, it was the part of it with manta rays and other like fishies, but it also had other fish...like mackerel :\ and some annoying fish that had something against me and Paul and found it funny to keep splashing us, it did it twice as well, they didn’t get Laura, Claire of Mike wet, just had a vendetta against us. I took a load of pictures here but they were all pretty crap as the fish kept moving, but I managed to get a cool picture of a ray.

they're so cute as well

And I managed to get an ok one of two crabs fighting, although they were moving fast so it’s a little hard to see the one fighting it :(.

was cool to watch

We then went into some amazon type bit where there were piranhas and a stupid smoke machine which was horrible, I did get a picture of one fish though...just not sure what he was.

fishie

We then decided to have lunch, so a couple of us got chips, which were nice but tasted fishy, which wasn’t that nice but they were still chips so yum :).

Now as it wasn’t the summer a lot of the center was a bit inactive, like the mini golf or anything that attracts little kids, there was a dinosaur dig site thing, which was a bit of a wasteland, but there was a pond and these cool lego buildings, which ya can kinda see from my picture.

detailed

We went to the turtle area, where there was a giant turtle sculpture at the entrance

omg its eating people

I took quite a few pictures here, as turtles are extremely cute, but the damn things kept moving so the only real good picture I managed to get was of a scary Chinese turtle, which had like a snout O_o.

looked like a dinosaur

I also have a picture of a sleepy shark, from the very cool area...can’t remember what it was called, but it was amazing we walked through the tank, as it had a walkway through it.

the only shark i manged to get a good picture of

There was also a penguin area which only had two penguins, only managed to get a picture of one of them, but damn was he cute and scary at the same time...he wanted to eat us ^_^

if you put your finger against the glass he'd try and peck at it

There was also an otter area which lacked otters :\. We then popped to their play area, where Paul refused to go down the slide (meanie) we then popped over to their amusement place, which had ufo grabbers and a wack-a-mole and a cool arcade version of it by sega, which I so wanted to play, Laura tried to play the wack-a-mole but it stole her 20p, and the sega one wouldn’t take my 30p :(.

One of the best bits was watching the seals, so I recorded them for about a minute on my phone, you can get the jist of it if ya watch it, they were so cute :).

Overall I had a lovely day, got a pressie for Charlotte, a few cute shells, and a nice day looking at fish. I’d say it was worth the money that was forked out as it’ll stick in my memory, thanks for the lovely day Paul, Laura and Claire ^_^.
