See ya

Well like the title says see ya all in a week, and I'll like make an entry then and stuff.

Newport....wow

Well as I'm sure maybe some people guessed today was that I wasn't at school :P, Charmoo and myself went to the open day at Newport, um I won't comment on how I did not like the ride there, but after 4 hours we got there :P Caerleon was so beautiful, heck I would just wanna go there for the scenery. There were so many hills and it was just wow, the front of the uni was pretty too, it had an old look about it and a clock tower :) made it look cool, oh yeah plus Caerleon has all this stuff about Roman things which would be cool to look into.

The open day was very well organised, altho we did not have enough time to do everything we wanted which sucked. Altho we did help do a focus group discussion for developing the school :) was interesting to see how different our view was to this other girl's. And we did get £30 worth of hmv vouchers for doing it :o that'll save me money, omg I just realised I could get Nausicaa & The Cat Returns with it, yay I love Miyazaki films :D

Anyway back to Newport :P I really enjoyed all that we did there, and the woman who represented Newport at the APU convention remembered us :D that was nice. All the students were helpful and nice :) it was a really nice community there, the rooms were nice too. Last bit was to go off with the lecturer people for the courses, and all I can say is gawd I really wanna do the course now O_o it sounded so interesting from the talk we had, there were like 4 of us that had come to Newport for the games design stuff, the guy next to me seemed pretty excited about it all, altho the girl and other guy didn't seem so passionate and I think the girls parents were more interested in the course :P. But hey I won't judge, that’s just mean doing that. So David (lecturer) said they're only taking on 45 students O_o which is like none so it makes me realise I might not get in :( I don't really wanna do a foundation course to better myself for it. I wanna go onto the life drawing :D I love life drawing ok well no that sounds weird, I don't love drawing naked people  but yeah I really enjoy life drawing, we're doing it again this year :D should be good, but yeah course sounds so good O_o and going to conventions or even just Lionhead would like be a dream come true....I'm not a weirdo :( but um yeah only thing I worry about if I got into Newport, would be where all the games would go O_o I mean yeah the 360 would come with me since I'll have one by then but what about everything else O_o oh dreamcast I cannot live without you......I feel I'm sounding weird now so um I'll stop and say that Newport is a great uni, and mesa wanna go now. (not like I didn't before :P)

Hehe and David knew my name how cool :P even if I did post on the forums and say what I’d be wearing so people could spot me  good ol xbox hoodie :P.

Chibi Robo!!!

This game is so cute and amazing; I recommend anyone buy it that has a Gamecube and freeloader or a jap Gamecube.

chibirobo

Seriously anyone of any age can play this, it can appeal to both kids and adults, obviously Japanese children as British ones may get a little confused ^^. But yeah you take the role of tiny little robot named chibi robot I think? Probably cos he's rather small looking. It's hard to get the jist of a game when the instructions and game itself are against you.

Well the story from what I've seen and looking at a translation guide is that you are a birthday present to a little girl called Jenny (who seems to be obsessed with frogs as all she seems to say is ribbit) and you were a present from her father, even though according to the mother he only bought it cos he wanted one. Anyway I'm probably sounding a little confusing, bad at explaining stuff when I'm tired :P. But yeah you then figure out how to move the little guy around, or guess how in my case. Then a little after her birthday party you get to tidy up the mess, which involves you picking up the little pieces of trash and storing them inside of you, and you can then throw them into the trash can (from on the floor, where as I spent ages trying to throw in the trash from above the can, how stupid can ya be :P) anyway there’s also this little toothbrush type object that you pick up to clean dirty messes on the floor like paw prints from the pet dog. And it has the coolest music ever. The game itself seems pretty music orientated as there are little sounds with whatever you do, be it washing the floor, walking across different materials or just the diegetic music.
I'd have to say the game itself reminds me of some other game, but I can't quite put my finger on it, I'd like to say it's like Roomania 203, but I don't think it is....something to do with how you are performing little tasks and stuff.
Anyway back to the game, you work for the family night and day (night and day being rather short and ending after a few minutes) but you can still manage to get quite a bit done. Another really cute thing about it, is as he is a little robot he needs an energy source, which happens to be an internal battery, as you can see from the pic of the cover he has a little plug trailing from behind. When you feel you are running low on power (there is a meter to the side displaying how much you have left) you can go up to a socket in the wall, pick up your plug and just slot it in. Doing this also gives you an opportunity to save as well which is handy.
The aim of the game I think is to be the best robot ever, you gain "Happy points" from doing good deeds and also money from doing these deeds or from just picking up coins. The money obviously lets you buy stuff, what that stuff is that you can buy I will never know unless I learn Japanese. But with the happy points the more you have the more your rank goes up, you first start off with a happy little robot with a battery of 80 and a rank of 1000000, but as time goes by your rank goes up along with your battery power depending on if you get to the certain criteria. I currently have a battery of 120 and a rank of 3000 and something. I think.
I remember seeing the game coming out on a newsletter I got from Play-asia and fell in love with it instantly after watching the advert for it, altho I didn't particularly have 35 quid to buy it, altho the other day I did notice it on ebay cheap so I couldn't resist :P.
I would explain about the characters of the game, but its kinda hard to know about them when you don't have a clue to what's going on. Altho I can show pics :D.
I was gonna just find some pics on the net but they all just seem to be the same 11 shots, so I'll take a pic from the instruction book and label it :p.

family

Hmm so that’s about it, I seriously do recommend it to anyone, as it is really a fun game, I guess as it's so simple it could appeal to any audience. So yeah buy it now :D.

Gameboy Micro

Well I ordered a Gameboy micro the other day, so I can have one for my trip to Barcelona, and since we're traveling by bus I needed something to amuse myself, and since the DS can't be played on at the same time by two people I felt I wanted something new. So I treated myself to a Famicom version Gameboy Micro. I would of waited for them to come out over here, but the colours coming out here are really boring, and black isn't even coming out over here so I thought screw that and I found out that in Japan they have a special Famicom version to celebrate Mario's 20th Anniversary, I couldn't contain my excitement (yeah I'm weird :P) anyway I thought it looked so cool I had to get myself one, plus before they stopped selling them or something, which probably won't happen but it's something nice to add to my collection. Anyway it did come on Friday but I was round my sister's looking after her and her boyfriend as they have recently been in a road accident, so I found out Friday that it had come along with £34.83 customs which is horrible, as that means I am now completely skint, and the money I was saving up for Barcelona is pretty much down to about a pound now, yay :(. But yeah so I had to wait until I got home today to play it, was a while until I did as I had a few things to do, but then I opened the package, I bought myself the Gameboy micro itself, a case for it, BoulderDash EX (cos who doesn't like boulderdash :P) Famicom Mini Series Super Mario Brothers, a little zelda gashapon which happened to not be the one I wanted and wasn't even Link :( and a game for Charmoo which I will not say what it is :P and they also gave me some free sour melon sweets...random, anyway sorry the pic is crap but the camera's batteries ran out so I had to take it with my phone.

stuff

So now you know what I got I'll talk about the Micro more :). The second I took it out the box I thought omg it looks cool, altho this was the packet I was referring to :P As it's celebrating Mario's anniversary they made it special. Here's what's so cool about it.
This is the first bit of packaging which holds the Micro where it is.

first

Then under that where the adaptor went.

last

Then when I stopped looking at the box I took the Micro out of its little bag thing and it just hit me that is was so small, it looks smaller when it's turned off which is a little weird, but anyway I thought it looked a lot smaller than I expected so I got myself a game and watch and shoved them next to each other and there is quite a bit of a difference, mainly as the screen is smaller, but there is a size difference also as you can see below.

comparison

Then I went to the instruction book thinking I could find out how long I have to charge it for, then of course I realised it was in Japanese...stupid me. So I had to look around a bit on the net, then I found out the America Nintendo site has manuals up for download so I printed it off and spent a while making an instruction book :P

book

Here’s a pic of the back of it, showing that it is special :D

back

Its not that bad really, anyway I had the thing on charge while I made it, and about a few hours later I could play on it :D yay.
So I switched it on a popped my new game in it, and amazingly the screen looked so much bigger, and is not hard to see at all. It is a little confusing having to play on a system so small and look at it at the same time, basically the size of a master system controller :o But after a while I felt like I was just playing on a normal Gameboy really, just an ultra pretty one :D
It may not feel small but it does look pretty small as you can see in the pics below.

small

And believe me my hands aren't huge :P

Then there is this one

small

Which you can also view here as I feel the small picture doesn't do it justice ;)

I should also mention Mario is a direct port of the original Famicom/NES version, so if it looks bad I either took a crap picture or cos its only a port. But the screen is very nice :D

Oh yeah something else cool, they added in the normal battery dying feature but they added it into the start and select buttons which is extremely cute, where they glow blue if the battery is fine, or red if it needs charging :) which is a nice feature.

Hmm I seem a little more happy with my Zelda capsule toy now, I have now found out he is called a Minish, as he is from The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap.

minish

He shall now sit happily on my micro :D
